Control Freak Cellar Guard

Is the cooling unit
still cooling?

Control Freak Cellar Guard, brought to you by Control Freak

Concept A product in development. Demo values are simulated.

Sound familiar?

A warm room deserves a closer look.

The unit sounds like it is running.

Compare outlet air with room air. When they match while the room is above target for a set time, get a cooling unit not cooling alert.

You are away when the room warms up.

Room and bottle readings tell you what is getting warm. Choose push, text, email or alarm alerts. Phone alerts need internet.

The internet drops.

Rules run on the controller. The local alarm keeps following its rules while the controller has power.

How it works

Three readings. A clearer picture.

Read the room

Place the room probe in the cellar and the bottle probe in position.

Check the outlet air

A probe at the cooling outlet shows whether the air coming out is cooler than the room.

Set the response

Choose your temperature limits and local alarm rules. Your main cooling unit keeps its own thermostat.

What makes it different

See more than a warm room.

Check cooling performance

Outlet air adds context to the room reading so you know when to check the cooling unit.

Rules stay at home

A Wi-Fi or internet drop changes nothing about the rules running on the powered controller.

One complete kit of its own

Works with the Control Freak gear you already own: every Control Freak product is a complete kit on its own. If a Control Freak controller you already have has a free port or relay, Home Assistant can put it to work for this product too.

What is included

The controller, sensors and local response.

Controller and outputs

Controller with Home Assistant built in, plus an output for the local siren. Pro adds a circulation fan output.

Sensors for the cellar

Room, bottle and outlet air temperature probes, a door contact, plus humidity sensing and a leak sensor (both planned).

Local alarm

A siren for an alert you can hear at home. Cooling units and humidity equipment are not included.

Home Assistant built in

How many apps do you open to watch your cellar?

Home Assistant built in

Bring your cellar readings and Control Freak gear together on your home network.

Choose how alerts reach you

Push, text, email or alarm. Phone alerts need internet; the local alarm does not.

No subscription

The controller runs the rules at home, even when Wi-Fi or internet is unavailable.

Through Home Assistant and its companion app, it works with Google Home, Siri, CarPlay and Alexa: ask Alexa or Siri what the cellar temperature is, tell Google Home to read out the bottle temperature, check it from CarPlay, and get voice alerts when something is out of balance.

Honest limits

Know what still needs you.

No cooling through a power cut

This kit cannot keep the cellar cool when power is out.

A backup cooler that starts by itself (Pro)

With Pro, a backup cooler you supply starts on its own when the main unit stops cooling. The kit does not repair your cooling unit, and nothing keeps a cellar cool in a power cut.

Phone alerts need internet

Local rules and the local siren work without internet while the controller has power.

Demo

Try a warmer room. See the response.

All values and alerts are simulated. Example thresholds are not installation advice.
