Still plugged in after the storm?
Set a maximum run time per storm, instead of remembering when to unplug the heat tape.

Set a maximum run time per storm, instead of remembering when to unplug the heat tape.
One temperature does not tell the whole story. Give each side its own rule.
A snow forecast can start the cables you already own, so nobody has to go out and plug them in.
How it works
Use compatible plug-in roof, gutter and pipe cables. Keep their ground fault protection.
Choose temperature ranges, daytime windows and a maximum run time. Set season off dates.
Forecast and local temperature guide the outputs. A pipe cable runs when its pipe nears freezing.
What makes it different
The shady eave can run while the warmer gutter rests.
Set a run limit so a storm cycle has an end. Season off keeps the cables off between seasons.
A Wi-Fi or internet drop does not stop the controller rules. New forecasts and phone alerts need internet.
What's included
Controller, switched cable outputs and the sensors this product uses, together in one kit.
Your heating cables are not included. Every Control Freak product is a complete kit on its own. If a Control Freak controller you already have has a free port or relay, Home Assistant can put it to work for this product too. Final kit contents are in development.
Home Assistant
Home Assistant built in. No subscription. See your readings and cable outputs on your home network.
Push, text, email or alarm. Phone alerts need internet. A local alarm needs connected alarm equipment. The cable rules run on the controller.
Through Home Assistant and its companion app, it works with Google Home, Siri, CarPlay and Alexa: ask Alexa or Siri whether the roof cables are on, tell Google Home to start a timed run, check it from CarPlay, and get voice alerts when something is out of balance.
Honest limits
It switches cables on and off. It cannot confirm a cable is actually heating, or detect a failed cable.
Driveway snow melt systems are not controlled. This concept is for compatible plug-in roof, gutter and pipe cables.
An outdoor GFCI protected supply is required. Keep the cable’s own protection and follow its installation instructions. It does not fix attic heat loss or promise to prevent ice dams.
